John A. Edmonds was the first African American Assistant Principal who worked at Hamden High School. He was known as a mentor and an inspiration to all who knew him.The John A. Edmonds Scholarship Fund was established in tribute to his unwavering desire and countless efforts to encourage students to always do their best, by thought, word and deed. The scholarship keeps his legacy alive with the continued support of those students who need inspiration in order for their pursuit of higher education to be made possible.
