Focus: Education AHOM Community Engagement program objectives are based on prevention in minimizing the risk of inner-city youth opportunities for them reaching their full potential.
Focus: Education All Access Training and Student-Athlete Development, Inc. guides middle and high school student-athletes to optimize their full potential personally, academically, and athletically. Our purpose is for student-athletes to optimize their experiences and future opportunities to the fullest through establishing a foundation of personal skills, knowledge, and self-awareness.
Focus: Education Arts in CT provides in-school arts integration programming at underserved schools across 8 counties in Connecticut, with a concentration in New Haven County.
Focus: Economics The longstanding mission and commitment of Christian Community Action (CCA) have been to offer help, housing and hope to people who are poor, homeless, and/or without food and family support through the provision of emergency services.
Focus: Education Serving the entire state of Connecticut, "The Network" aims to support the mission and vision of HBCU's by developing a community of its students and alumni living in CT, that are committed to stand as ONE in friendship and service.
Focus: Education The goal of the program is that Black students learn their legal rights and responsibilities and trial procedure, improve their public speaking skills, and improve their writing skills.
Focus: Education The overall goal of the program is to empower our youth and families with the tools needed to become successful members of society with positive and healthy morals. D.E.S.T.I.N.E.D. to Succeed, Inc. offers an experience to participants that will improve positive self-esteem and work with each individual's strengths and weaknesses.
Focus: Economics The mission of Daughters of Divine Destiny (D3) Academy, Inc. is to educate, empower and inspire BIPOC girls and women for personal, educational, and social-emotional greatness.
Focus: Education Elm City LIT Festival serves the vulnerable and under-served Black community in the Greater New Haven area by providing a yearly book festival and bi-weekly podcast highlighting Books, Literature and Literacy Artists with the purpose of enhancing literacy while promoting awareness of local, regional and global artists of the Diaspora.
Focus: Education Global Youth Media Initiative mentors young artists to find their voice and to dare to speak and honor their truthful insights on the world we live in. We cultivate a safe space for musicians to share their inner beats, rhymes, and wisdom for recording and broadcasting to the masses.
Focus: Health The purpose of H.O.P.E. Inc. is to help combat supply shortage caused by increased demand due to COVID, and make sure that this population is equipped to protect themselves against transmission of the disease, especially as restrictions are lifted.
Focus: Education Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs, Inc. is a mission-driven, non-profit organization founded on the principle of changing the lives of under-served college-bound youth and young adults, empowering, encouraging, and equipping them with resources required to obtain a post-secondary education.
Focus: Education Ice The Beef works as a family to Curb/End Gun Violence in the inner cities of America. We focus on gun violence prevention by teaching youth that their voice and decisions matter. Ice The Beef's, Five R's program offers middle and high school students core concepts needed to understand why their life, decisions and education is important.
Focus: Education Innovative Wellness Incorporated is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect by providing educational and environmentally sustainable resources to our community.
Focus: Health The Peer-to-Peer Mental Health Advocate Training Program called, "Let's Talk" uses the Interruptions Production as a case model for discussion. The program is designed to train facilitators to return to their community, place of employment or worship and teach the Let's Talk Program. The goal is to provoke awareness of the behaviors of Mental Health and Trauma that appear in our daily lives and develop a plan to heal.
Focus: Education Life, Health and Wellness Incorporated promotes educational programs for youth and adults through collaboration and partnerships in the community around education and academic success, health and well being, including prevention of illness and chronic diseases.
Focus: Health Nappe Soul Incorporated addresses food insecurity by providing increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables to promote better health for the low income families in Connecticut's Black community is the primary purpose of the Indoor Greenhouse Project.
Focus: Health The purpose of this program encompasses health and education. New Haven Pearls of Excellence, Inc. would like to continue supporting the Dixwell/Newhallville neighborhoods by addressing food insecurities, providing education and mental health support.
Focus: Economics The New Haven Venom Football Club program is led by dedicated volunteers, but it differs from most other football programs because it's run entirely by volunteers.
Focus: Health Nuts About Health, Inc.'s health awareness program is designed to combat rising childhood obesity among Connecticut's Black Community. The purpose of this program is to provide black children with nutrition information so they can understand the importance of making informed food choices and understand the critical role that food plats in good health.
Focus: Education Phenomenal I Am, Inc. aims to assist in increasing youth academic performance, college readiness and access by providing mentors, knowledge, tools and strategies.
Focus: Education This corporation is established to provide Olympic style Boxing Training and mentorship to at-risk youth in the New Haven, CT area; offering them opportunities to compete nationally.
Focus: Education The Kiyama Mentoring Project is geared towards assisting young black males between the ages of 11-30 in developing sustainable peer based social circles and advisor/adult based "cabinets."
Focus: Education Traveler On A Mission engages in conversations with teachers and leaders in the community that work with children. Traveler On A Mission's purpose is to provide essential hygiene products to support and improve the health and self-esteem of adults and children in need.
Focus: Education The goal of UCA's Project Catalyst is to provide youth with the support, tools, and pathways to reconciliation that they need to form and maintain healthy and productive lives while contributing to their community.
Focus: Education The mission of URU is to foster communication and understanding among diverse people by utilizing, discovering and applying tangible multimedia solutions at the intersection of the arts, humanities, science and technology.
Focus: Education Waterbury Bridge to Success (BTS) is a cross-sector partnership committed to dismantling the policies, practices and beliefs that have historically disenfranchised all stakeholders with the intent to co-create sustainable equitable systems that support BIPOC youth, families and communities from cradle to career.
Focus: Health The mission of the Women of the Village Community Food Pantry is to provide nutritious options to those individuals/families suffering from food insecurities.
Focus: Education Youth Entrepreneurs is a non-profit organization that specializes in providing educational, entrepreneurial, and vocational training to disadvantaged minority youth in New Haven, CT.
Focus: Health 2 Your Health, LLC. is a holistic health services business whose mission is to help people recover and maintain their health naturally.
Focus: Education Black Girls Achieve (BGA) is an empowerment program created specifically for Black girls in middle school and high school. The purpose of Black Girls Achieve is to provide opportunities for Black girls that will help them develop the necessary skills to navigate Black girlhood and society.
Focus: Education (Program: African Americans and the City) Housing policies chiseled residential segregation into Hartford's communities and physical infrastructure, calcifying deep pockets of generational poverty and restricting the economic and physical mobility of slumlords, and fight eviction are part of a longer history of African American to secure housing and create vibrant, resilient communities.
Focus: Health Through Diane's Helping Hands we will work to provide comfort to Cancer Patients by providing a variety of handmade craft items. We will work to bring awareness to Ovarian Cancer, a rare form of cancer which has no symptoms in its early stages. Diane's Helping Hands will help her family and friends heal and remain close to her by doing what she loved best, helping others.
Focus: Education This program focuses on 3 main areas: Food Pantry (provide food assistance to any individual or family in the GHA with a need at no cost), Counseling Center (experienced clinicians available to help individuals and families with different types of issues), and College Transition (experienced multilingual and ethnically diverse college coaches are prepared to assist students where they are, all at no cost to the student).
Focus: Health This program helps impact families in the community by providing family engagement/activities with children, goals to build stronger families, teaching children the fundamentals of the sport double-dutch, healthy living/life style/mental health experiences, and broadening the minds of adults and children with traveling.
Focus: Education This program will create an impact in the Black community by educating and providing young people with the skills to advocate and champion causes that they determine to be beneficial to them, their families and the Black community.
Focus: Health HLSA's mission is to positively impact the development of youth in the GH community by providing them with soccer and life-enriching opportunities, to create and nurture valuable soccer instruction, and to enhance their social and physical health by fostering a positive and safe environment.
Focus: Health Love Your Menses, Inc. promotes menstrual equity and helps to build the next generation of leaders by providing an educational, uplifting and supportive space for Black and Brown girls, women, and people who menstruate to learn about menstrual cycle and create equitable public health solutions.
Focus: Health M-Pact Mentoring, Inc. is a nonprofit, Sports & Wellness program for youth in Greater Hartford, CT.
Focus: Education The mission of Young Men of Distinction (YOMD) is to collectively respond to the immediate and long-term spiritual, physical and emotional needs of young men of color in the Greater Hartford community.
Focus: Education The Queen Ann Nzinga Center, Inc. (QANC) uses its 30 years of experience creating a supportive intergenerational community to increase self-image of Black and Brown people. QANC's unique Afro-centric model combines the arts and humanities to provide children, teens and young adults with an opportunity to engage with community leaders and receive support increasing their ability to make uplifting decisions.
Focus: Education The mission of The Sons of Thunder Coalition (SONS) is to serve as a "catalyst" and "collaborator" designing, developing, implementing and managing programs in education and health arenas that have positive impact on youth (and their families) in Greater Hartford's Black Community.
Focus: Education Menteemc is a mentorship program that will target at-risk youth living in New Britain, Connecticut. The program focuses on 6 soft skills; wants and needs, opportunity costs, decision making, delayed gratification, work ethic, planning and organizational skills.
Focus: Economics URISE Ventures, Inc.'s program is hands-on, project-based, and ideal for creative, motivated, and tech-savvy youth and young adults.
Focus: Economics Wealth Generation Legacy, Inc. is committed to breaking the wealth inequality gap for Black communities. They teach and model the importance of high school youth making smart investments, participating in personal banking, understanding debt avoidance, and exploring economically favorable college and/or career pathways.
Focus: Education The Bernard Buddy Jordan Foundation seeks to expand its Brothers Table Mentoring program to New Haven to provide mentoring support and development for middle school age boys of color.
Focus: Education Bridgeport Youth Lacrosse (BYL) beneficiaries and their families experience disadvantages every day. They are under-served, minority children who have been deemed racially, ethnically and economically isolated by the Connecticut Department of Education.
Focus: Education Cook and Grow continues to impact Connecticut's Black Community by positively shaping future leaders, offering transferable skills, mentorship, and access to culinary arts education and urban farming at their fingertips.
Focus: Education INROAD's vision is to be an indispensable partner to corporations and the community, helping to shape and develop diverse leaders that will transform the composition and culture of the world's business and social communities.
Focus: Economics McGivney Community Center's mission is to provide stimulating and enriching programs that foster academic success and self-esteem.
Focus: Education Project Overcome, Inc. manages a Homework Program that provides safe spaces for young, Black children to learn and socialize outside of the classroom. The purpose of the program is to provide students of low-income and single-family households opportunities to learn and succeed in school and life.
Focus: Education PT Partners (PTP) aims to rebuild community in PT Barnum Apartments, a low-income public housing development in Bridgeport; to develop partnerships with community leaders and organizations; and to attract the funding and resources necessary to enable PT Barnum Apartment residents to proactively engage in making their neighborhood a healthy and safe place to live.
Focus: Education Saturday Academy remains committed to meeting their goal to deliver STEM enrichment opportunities to underserved girls in Fairfield County.
Focus: Education SYMI helps individuals with limited education and work experience to find a "first" job that is a platform for advancement and financial security.
Focus: Education SWAG provides a support system for families in need to educate them of creative alternative means to reduce stress, provide career advancement and readiness training, and provide alternative healthy eating options for families.
Focus: Education The mission of Youth With A Purpose is to break the cycles of poverty, lack of education, unemployment, teen parenthood/single parenthood, incarceration of young men and women, and crime in Bridgeport, CT.
Focus: Education The purpose of the proposed initiatives are to bridge the racial and educational divides within Fairfield County with an emphasis on the Greater Bridgeport Area as it relates to supplemental guidance, support and resources for students desiring to attend college with an emphasis on HBCU's.
